Ten years after the emergence of the BRIC acronym to describe the weight of Brazil, Russia, India and China on the global stage, the expression became popular and became a kind of summary of changes in world economy. “When Goldman Sachs coined the term BRIC, there was no suggestion that these countries could act collectively,” said Shyam Saran, a member of the Center for Political Studies in New Delhi. “But from there they learned to use this international attention to work on an agenda of common interests.”
