According to Century Direct Group sources on Tuesday India banned food import from Japan for the next 3 months or until “radiation hazard has subsided to acceptable limit.”
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India is now reviewing all the foods from Japan on regular basis to determine radiation levels.
India is one of the countries that imports some fruit, vegetables and processed food from Japan. Although India doesn’t import that much produce from Japan, the government is still concerned about risks of radiation it could pose. Century Direct Group have learned that radiation levels have increased just recently as a result of explosion of one of the reactors at Fukushima plant.
