Prime Minister of India held historic official visit to Myanmar

The Prime Minister of India, Manmohan Singh, on Monday started an official visit to Myanmar (Burma), the first a Head of Government of India makes this country a quarter century.

Singh, who arrived on Sunday accompanied by Foreign Minister, SM Krishna, is expected to meet with President Burma, Thein Sein, in the capital, Naypyidaw, on Tuesday and travel to Yangon to meet with the opposition leader and Nobel peace, Aung San Suu Kyi

India is interested in participating in the exploitation of vast reserves of oil and natural gas in Myanmar and notes with concern the influence of the government and enterprises in China engaged in this country.
