UAE ambassador to Iran to convene consultations

The UAE government on Thursday summoned the ambassador in Iran after he protested a visit by Iranian President Mahmud Ahmadinejad to Abu Musa, an island in the Gulf disputed by both countries.
The Arab foreign minister, Sheikh Abdallah al-ben ZAYER Nahyane, had stated to the press that Ahmadinejad’s visit to the island of Abu Mussa was “a flagrant violation of the sovereignty of the UAE and an outrage to all efforts for a peaceful solution of the Iranian occupation of the islands. “
